Come Out and Play!
A Yoga & Drama Therapy Workshop
Facilitated by Dr. Jo Eckler and Dana Sayre
A chance to unlock creativity, move your body, and experiment with new ways of being and moving in 2016!

Come Out and Play is a yoga and drama therapy workshop which will combine kundalini techniques and movement games to help participants unlock their creativity and step out of old patterns. Participants will get comfortable using their bodies in new ways and living in the moment. $20.

Dr. Jo has been on an endless quest to help others find self-compassion, love of movement, and ways to better manage stress.  She started out with a doctorate in clinical psychology, got licensed, and specialized in trauma and anxiety, but she found that talking wasn’t enough to help people fully heal.  After finally getting up the nerve to go to a yoga studio, she found Kundalini yoga after a spinal injury and many years away from physical activity, and was amazed at all the tools for healing it could offer.  Her teacher convinced her that she could be a teacher even though she didn’t look like the ones she saw in magazines.  She trained at Yoga Yoga here in Austin for Kundalini Level I and is currently working towards her Level II certification in Kundalini.  She is an iRest Teacher-in-Training Level I and is also certified in Relax and Renew® restorative yoga with Judith Hanson Lasater and in Gong Yoga.  She knows from personal experience the struggles that larger bodies, chronically ill bodies, and queer/trans* bodies can have when walking into a fitness or yoga environment, and wants to make her classes as welcoming and accessible as possible.  One of her students has said, “The change in me is that I am beginning to be able to allow myself compassion, and the space to be softer with myself. I think you hold space for classes with grace and a welcoming atmosphere. I feel no judgment there, and you facilitate a place for gentle growth.”  Learn more at www.drjoyoga.com. .

Dana Sayre is a freelance writer, identity coach, and teaching artist living in Austin, Texas. She is enrolled in the alternative training program to become certified by the North American Drama Therapy Association. Dana has a BA in Theatre and English from Fairmont State University and a MA in Performance Studies from Texas A&M University. Dana has a decade of experience (plus personal experience) with issues related to gender and sexuality. She has done a lot of work to heal herself, and wants to share the tools and skills she has gained with others. Dana is openly queer, kinky, and polyamorous. She strives to raise awareness about sex-positive culture and to reduce the shame and stigma of marginalized identities in our culture. Dana is also open about her struggles with anxiety and depression, hoping to raise awareness about mental illness and help others who may be struggling in silence to feel less alone.
