A woman stands in front of a closet filled with costume pieces. She looks at each piece, pulling some out and holding them against her body before shaking her head and returning them to their place.

Finally inspired, she digs in the back of the closet and pulls out a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt, which are rarely worn. She begins to pull them on

Her roommate walks into the room, dressed in the latest “slutty” costume from a megastore.

“I thought you were coming out tonight?”

“I am.”

The roommate raises a skeptical eyebrow.

“Look, I wear these (gestures to closet) costumes all the time. I can’t remember the last time I wore these sweatpants. If Halloween is about playing with a different identity, why can’t I dress up as a ‘normal’ person for a change?”

The roommate sighs. “Fine. Do whatever you want. We’re leaving in ten.”

The woman looks in the mirror and smiles.
